Everyday Energy Saving Tips

Every once in awhile we need reminders that we all have, what I would call “ghost energy drains.” You know what they are, but we all forget about them, which is why I refer to them as the “ghost energy drains.”  Such items include toaster ovens, portable microwave ovens, dryers, hair dryers, computers, printers, fax machines, cell phone chargers, even electric toothbrush chargers all “drain” our electricity. According to one statistic – up to 40% comes from our everyday home use, even when items are turned off and are not in use.  These items still use electricity if they are plugged into the wall!   Amazing, but true!

We are told that we should unplug these items to conserve energy, but in the case of computers, confirm that it is truly off, whatever that means!

We all need to remember that our energy conservation efforts can make a difference!
