Ralph’s real estate career began in 2004 when he joined a development company that primarily outfitted single tenant retailers. There, he learned the painstaking real estate matchmaking game of pairing national tenants with the appropriate markets, while also accumulating expertise in niche segments of the industry like value creation, off-market transactions, and creative deal structures.
Seeking a more inclusive spectrum of real estate opportunities, Ralph transitioned to the brokerage side of the business, settling into Calcagni Commercial in January of 2013. He quickly and substantially increased the size and prestige of the team’s transactions, selling double-digit properties like the Tanger Outlets in Westbrook for $40 million, the Big Y plaza in Cheshire for $12.6 million, and the Cromwell Commons shopping center in Cromwell for $16.7 million. Additionally, he distinguished himself as a value creator, selling a student housing deal for $7.6 million in 2015 and then for $8.37 million in 2018 after driving rents and improving the building’s overall return.
