About John Ramadei

How long have you lived in Connecticut?

I have lived in CT all of my life. Born and raised in New Haven, attended University of Connecticut in Storrs, and raised my own family in Cheshire.

What part of Connecticut do you live in, and why?

I live in Cheshire and we have owned the same home since 1984. We originally moved to Cheshire because I worked in Wallingford and wanted to be in a town close to work that offered a good school system, a good value in housing choices and a strong community environment. Cheshire was at the top of all these categories.

What is your favorite local spot?

Local spots bring to mind both leisure time and restaurants. I love the outdoors and often hike the trails above Roaring Brook and over Bethany Mountain. Local restaurants we often frequent include The Victorian House, Vespucci’s, Main Street Café and Bagelicious.

What is your favorite time of year in Connecticut?

I love all the seasons and experiencing the changes from one to the other. Perhaps my favorite is summer because I love being outdoors and going to the beach, and the summer allows the greatest amount of outside time.

What tip would you give someone moving to your hometown?

Enjoy the many opportunities that exist in Cheshire for the interests you already love. I have yet to find a person who could not connect with a group or be involved in an activity that is not offered in Cheshire. Just take a look and get involved.

What makes you happy?

My family is my central focus in life. My wife and children, and now my grandson, provide all the pleasure that one hopes for in life. My extended family stays in close contact with one another and we truly feel blessed to have these relationships. We also have an extended group of friends that share these views and contribute in a large way to the quality of our lives.

What is your favorite childhood memory?

I am fortunate to say that I have too many good memories to pick just one as my favorite from childhood. I am the third of five children and my parent’s home was always the meeting place for family and friends. There were always big meals, laughter, games and crazy experiences. We truly could fill a book with the adventures of my family and so many memories still bring a smile to my face.

If you moved today and only had one box to take with you, what would you put in it?

My wife has been a photographer for her entire adult life. She has captured so many people and events in our lives which are now housed in dozens of photo albums and electronic files. Whenever we move the most precious box will contain the photos.

How long have you been part of the Calcagni team?

I joined the Calcagni team in July of 2012.
