CRS, GRI, REALTOR
In 1973 I embarked on my first career, becoming a fifth grade teacher in North Haven, CT. I soon left to join my husband in Orono, Maine where I taught middle school language arts for two years. When we returned to Connecticut, a friend introduced me to a man who was an economist, a Connecticut Real Estate Commissioner, and a pioneer in the real estate industry. His enthusiasm was so contagious that I decided to leave teaching and become a REALTOR. It was in this exciting place that the first hand held real estate calculator programs were developed for Texas Instruments and I was one of its first students! Here I took courses in marketing strategies and appraisal techniques and really laid the foundation for my future as a REALTOR, a career that was about to be put on hold for five years while I became a full-time mother. When I returned to real estate, I joined Calcagni Associates in my hometown of Cheshire. Over several years I earned my C.R.S. and G.R.I. designations, and gained additional hands on experience by working as a new construction Project Manager.
Though my friends know me to be very talkative and might get a good laugh out of this, the truth is that on the job I am a great listener. Never has the need for economizing the use of time been so important to working families who are endlessly juggling work and family life with very little down time. By asking the right questions and listening well to their needs, I try to make the process of selling and buying a house as stress free and efficient as possible.
When I’m not at the office, my life is focused on family, home, and our outdoorsy lifestyle. My favorite pastimes are gardening, fusion cooking, knitting, and photography. I have always loved horses and for many years training, showing and coaching aspiring young riders was my greatest passion. Today I enjoy swimming and weekend bicycling with my husband and spending time with our sons when they are home.
I am fortunate in being able to say I have done everything I wanted to do…so far! The next thing I’d like to do is to pursue my interest in photography and see the world through my camera.
